Wat Yannasangwararam – a newly completed royal temple dedicated to his Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Located ca. 15km to the south of Pattaya, the Park-like temple is vast, scenic and tranquil and consists of several beautiful buildings, both religious and non-religious, including one looking like a Chinese imperial palace. Built around a lake, the huge facility accommodates a variety of temples of different architectural styles, buildings, monuments, parks, a mountain-temple and small little houses built for the monks to live in. Furthermore, a school and a breeding farm for animals can be found within the premises. Admire the magnificent buildings and temples, all situated in a beautifully landscaped garden. Some of the buildings were donated and constructed from other Asian countries, such as from Burma, India, Japan, Cambodia, Korea, Laos and Singapore. One close by situated mountain of 200 meters height got modified by creating a flat surface on one side, into which a Buddha image of 165 meters height was carved with a chisel in honor of King Bhumpiphol This temple complex, which covers 147 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds, has been named the “Wat of the Reign”. Tis is in honour of the present King. On entering the gates, you will see a series of international “salas” or pavilions, built by different countries to honour the King. They border a small lake, and it is an enjoyable walk to view the different types of architecture. There is a mondop (ancient chedi) up the hill from the entrance. If you climb the 297 steps up you will find 2 footprints of the Lord Buddha in the mondop. Also the view worth seeing. Women and men should have their shoulders covered and wear long pants or skirts. The temple itself is noted for its modern Thai architecture. Across the small lake you will see a huge Chinese building. Inside, you will find a small-scale replica of the excavated tomb of the legendary Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di from Xi’an province. The tomb contains a large number of miniature terracotta soldiers. There are also several of the genuine life-size warriors dating back to the third Century BC. These have been donated to the museum by the Chinese government. There are many exhibits in the museum including excellent examples of Chinese painting and scrolls, a golden dragon screen, ancient Chinese bronzes, beautiful inlaid marble floors and carved granite wall bas-reliefs. Around the outside courtyard is a series of stone animal sculptures, representing the symbols of the Chinese horoscope
